This is annoying for the user because it means they have no email if the Exchange server goes offline but at least its fixed a long and frustrating The solution for me has been to change the user's Outlook client from using cached mode to being online only. Selecting the check mark next to a name will display that calendar on your screen. Here you will have lists of all currently added and available calendars for you to view. I then diagnosed that the cause was the Outlook client as I could access the calendar when logged in as the end user in OWA. Open Microsoft Outlook and browse to your calendar by clicking on the calendar option on left side of the screen. This made no difference to the user trying to access the calendar. My solution didn't end up being based on calendar permissions like so many of the posts found. I went through this thread trying the solutions one by one and none of them worked for me.
